Sweet liberation

Have a secret? Want to share? With who, you ask. Well, the world. Anyone. Everyone. No one. In particular.

PostSecret, an ongoing “community mail art project” created by Frank Warren, can help you out. The central idea: people anonymously mail in their secrets on a postcard they’ve designed and created by hand. Warren then selects certain postcards to put up on the site, in one of his New York Times best-selling books, or in PostSecret museum exhibits (yes, they really do exist).

Peruse the site and chances are you’ll think something along the lines of: “wow, isn’t it amazing the things we bottle up.” Sexual fears, fantasies and experiences; deeply suppressed emotions; unique perspectives, apprehension and joy regarding various bodily functions.

According to pantagraph.com, Warren has received a half million mailed secrets from every corner of the world since he launched the project on Jan. 1, 2005. As of late March, the site had received 300,000,000 hits.
